Speeding Up Simulation by Emulation - A Case Study

چکیده
The faster the scale of integration of digital circuits increases the more important is the acceleration of the verification. Based on a case study, this article explains a method of integrating hardware emulation into a simulation environment to speed up the verification. Therefore, we have developed an interface between the emulator and the simulation environment utilizing commercially available tools. An application shows, that this method empowers the verification process of integrated digital circuit up to three orders of magnitude depending on design level.

Speeding up Hardware Prototyping by Incremental Simulation/Emulation
In this paper we describe a method for the automatic construction of a testbench, able to dynamically communicate a standard VHDL simulator with a logic emulator by means of text files. The proposed approach significantly reduces turn-around times in an emulation based rapid system prototyping environment. In this way, time consuming logic synthesis and technology mapping steps are moved, in th...
متن کاملMultiobjective Search Based Algorithms for Circuit Partitioning Problem for Acceleration of Logic Simulation
Speeding up logic simulation is important to reduce design time of complex systems. Hardware emulation through reconfigurable systems(RS) build using FPGA's offer an cheap and efficient method to achieve the required speed-up. Emulation through RS poses some unique problems because of the limited circuit and I/O resources. A preparatory step for emulation using RS is to partition the circuit in...
متن کاملFast Run-Time Power Monitoring Methodology for Embedded Systems
Traditional simulation-based energy estimation is not practical because the simulation time has increased from minutes and hours and weeks. Therefore, simulation assisted by special hardware, such as FPGA, is the best solution for speeding up the simulation of large design. In this presentation we describe a coordinated measurement approach that combines off-line measured power models with coun...
متن کاملSecure Collaborative Spectrum Sensing in the Presence of Primary User Emulation Attack in Cognitive Radio Networks
Collaborative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is an effective approach to improve the detection performance in Cognitive Radio (CR) networks. Inherent characteristics of the CR have imposed some additional security threats to the networks. One of the common threats is Primary User Emulation Attack (PUEA). In PUEA, some malicious users try to imitate primary signal characteristics and defraud the CR user...
متن کاملEmulating Ad Hoc Networks: Differences from Simulations and Emulation Specific Problems
Simulations, emulations, and test deployments play a central role in design and development of ad hoc network protocols and software. Among these three methods, emulations have gained considerable popularity. This is partly because emulations address efficiency-accuracy trade-off of simulations by incorporating real hardware or software into the synthetic environment in a controlled manner. Alt...
